If you’ve been reading my blog, you will now know of a series I call, the Paris museum experience. If you don’t know, it’s a blog series where I go through museums in Paris and just talk about them. Well, after having lots of fun writing that, I decided to start a new series for something I am TRULY passionate about and inspired by; spirituality. Hence, welcome to the second official series on iwanteditfirst; my spiritual journey.

The first topic will be about one of my favorite things, crystals. There’s a lot of back and forth about healing crystals, some people calling BS, while others find it to truly help them. I’m not here to dispute any of those opinions, because at the end of the day, to each their own, and everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs. These are simply mine.

So, I’m not here to say what you need to believe or try to convince you that it works. But, if you are interested to learn about it then you’re in the right place.

My Story

I started off with buying crystals because “they are pretty” and “they make for cute decor”. But as I bought more and got more into them, I was able to understand why everyone was so interested and adamant they worked. I began to do more research and get more into it, and now we are here. Crystals have become a big part of my life. Anyone around me can agree with that. My friends and boyfriend always gift me them every occasion they get, and they gave me some VERY nice ones. I think dragging them in every spiritual store we come across gave them some ideas.

Back in Amsterdam I hold my little collection on a beautiful mirror tray, always exposing them to sunlight. For the final touch after a long day, I partner them up with a lit incense. This habit has been immediately passed on to my boyfriend, that although I’m not there now, he still does often. I managed to get my close friends interested in them. Whether they do it because they are pretty, or because they actually believe in them is all personal, but they are definitely looking into them more.

For my travels I carry around little Suzy, as I like to call her. She is a small rose quartz point. This was my first ever crystal, bought in Bangkok right when I started to get intrigued by them. Every time I travel I *carefully* throw her in my backpack and just with that I feel that much better.

Healing Crystals

First things first… what are healing crystals? It is believed that crystals are channels for healing energy. It’s believed they emit energizing, positive, uplifting vibrations to help achieve peacefulness within and a revitalized physical state. Now don’t get this wrong, crystals are not all the same, and they do not project the same energy, but don’t worry, I will cover that too. For all we know, this could all be a placebo effect, but even if it is, the placebo effect IS real. Why not give it a try?

There are many reasons why people use healing crystals, and this has really been a growing point of interest in the last few years. The belief of healing properties come from ancient Greece, Egypt, and China, and these beliefs are carried out today. Hence, that is why people may use them. Following reasons include that rather than having healing properties for your body, they provide a good flow of energy. Nowadays, they can also simply be seen as a form of self-care.

The Right Crystal for You

Okay not it’s time to jump in on which crystals do what, in a simple, categorized list to make it as easy as possible. Crystal properties are not generalized, there are crystals which supposedly are meant for one thing, and others are meant for another.

  • Amethyst: healing, purifying, and enhancing willpower
  • Clear quartz: used to support ones energetic system
  • Obsidian: used to aid processing emotions and experiences
  • Bloodstone: improve circulation and provide support to blood-related issues
  • Jasper: used to provide support during times of stress

Wealth Healing Crystals

  • Sapphire: prosperity
  • Jade: prosperity and luck
  • Tiger’s eye: used to provide motivation and lessen fear
  • Citrine: used to spark creativity, enthusiasm, and concentration

  • Moonstone: used to prompt feelings of inner strength and growth
  • Ruby: used to support sexuality and sensuality

Cleansing

When it comes to crystals, it is not simply “buy and place it”, there’s a cleansing process which is used to cleanse the crystal of any non-matching energy it picked up on the way to you. Any negative energy can mess up the healing properties of crystal, and therefore not work for you.

There are multiple ways to cleanse crystals, and one method does not work for all of them. Certain methods can actually ruin some crystals, so before starting the process, make sure to do some research to find the best method for yours.

Between many types of process, here are a few, most used ones.

  1. Salt water – Fully submerge the crystal is salt water
  2. Natural light – Set the crystal out before sundown and retried it before 11.00am
  3. Sage – Move the crystal through the smoke of the burning sage
  4. Salt – Place the crystal directly into a bowl of salt

Book to Buy

A must need book for anyone interested in crystals is “Crystals: The modern guide to healing crystals

This book goes into depth about 50 crystals, talking about their properties, their uses, and everything else you will need to know. It’s a must to understand and become comfortable with crystals and getting to know them.

This is a topic that I could go about for ages… therefore, if you are interested in anything specific regarding crystals, or spirituality in general, please comment or fill out a contact form and let me know! Otherwise I will see you in the next blog! x

Good learning for me, even though I am not into the “spiritual” part but I just like them.
