If you stuck around since last week, you will have read about one of my favorite skincare tricks – frozen cucumber.

Cucumber is great for acne-prone skin, protecting against irritation and swelling. Thanks to TikTok I discovered this trick – to simply cut a cucumber and stick it in your freezer. Not only does this allow the skin to heal because of its properties, but also it ices’ your skin.

It is perfect to use in the morning before washing your face. It will leave you refreshed and low-key energizing.

So, as this was such a success for me, I have decided to share with you exactly how to do it. You can thank me later.

The Process

Ready for this long process?

Step 1: Cut the cucumber in half – or in thin slices – depending on how you prefer it

Step 2: Stick it in the freezer and wait a couple hours before using

Step 3: Move the cucumber around your face 5-10 minutes at a time

I typically prefer applying it to my under eyes and the middle of my forehead because my skin there needs a bit extra help. You can very well apply it everywhere on your face.

I can very much see the effect on my puffy eyes, and actually makes me look human in the mornings.

Real or Nonsense?

Okay so here is the big question – does it actually work?

I can’t “actually” answer this questions because I am no professional, buuuut I did some research.

Maybe it’s surprising but … YES!

It does actually work. Bruce Green, Chartered Scientist and founder of SOS Serum Skincare said that icing your face in general has a lot of positive properties which have great effects on your skin. Partnering it up with cucumber, which has many positive attributes, can be a match made in SkinCare heaven.

See, I’m not talking nonsense.

Benefits

Before you jump into it because I said so, here is a list of all the benefits that actually come out of this trick.

  • Skin-friendly nutrients: Cucumbers contain Vitamin C and folic acid, which fight against swelling and inflammation. Freezing them heightens this benefit.
  • Soothing: Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, studies show that cucumbers can nourish and calm any irritated areas like acne-prone skin, sunburns, and redness.
  • Hydration: Cucumber is made of 95% water and is great at hydrating your skin.
  • Texture improvements: Cucumbers also contain vitamin K, which stimulate cell growth and improve elasticity in the skin and can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

If you do try this out, please let me know and tag us in a review 🙂
